Mossel Bay's

seafood House

The Café Gannet restaurant is a must for anyone visiting the Garden Route. Sitting in the sun-kissed courtyard of the culinary benchmark, located in downtown Mossel Bay, you may well think you are somewhere in the Mediterranean. Café Gannet is housed in the historical Old Post Office Tree Square complex, built in 1846.

The giant red postbox serves as a reminder of the rich history of the original Old Post Tree which was used by early Portuguese explorers. The giant post box is still used today with the original franking, to send old style postcards to loved ones all around the world.

Being an established seafood restaurant, we aim to provide the finest, fresh seafood that the Mossel Bay coastline has to offer. Specializing in local and exotic seafood dishes, the delectable choices featured on the Café Gannet menu include wild coastal oysters, black mussels, crayfish, prawns, Sole, Kingklip and local line fish. The specially designed A’ la Carte menu also offers a variety of pizzas, salads, light meals, meat options, signature sushi and homemade gelato. A kiddies menu, including healthier options, can be enjoyed by the little ones. The black board has daily chefs’ recommendations, and full English breakfast buffet can be enjoyed throughout the week.
